Sheinagh's unique vocal sounds are influenced by her assimilation of western and eastern vocal traditions. Born in Scotland, a natural Celtic singer, she expanded into sacred music in college touring the cathedrals of Germany and France. She has been the recipient of several vocal scholarships in musical theatre, bel canto and light opera. She has studied one-on-one with David Astor at the Academy of Music in Edmonton, University of Alberta, and Edmonton Musical Theatre. Has also studied Bel Canto with David Meek and Karen Way (UBC), Aline Koutin (University of Montreal). She intensified her vocal and presentational skills with Cirque du Soleil on advanced stage presentation and voice lyric. Her studies of 'eastern' vocal styles began with Trichy Sankaran (Carnatic, York University) and Dr. Vidyasagar Vankayala (Carnatic, Sapasa Society,; Rattan Mohan Sharma (North Indian, Pandi Jaseraj School), Cassius Khan (Gazal singing), and Dhrupad from the Dagar Lineage with Uday Bhawalkar and David Tsabar. . She has studied Sanskrit at UBC, and continues to intensify her training of North Indian Classical Music with Mrs. Kalpana Prasad (Kayal-Pandi Jaseraj School), as well as, Bhakti and Nad Yog Voice with Yogi Hari (Miami Florida); a direct descendant from the Nada Brahmananda lineage. She combines the technique gathered from these teachings and from her experience as a vocal performer and recording artist, giving her students the advantage of a wide range of tools in the development and practical application of their voice in any presentational format. |
